The workshop on dental implant placement with the name “Basics of implant placement and prosthodontic management” was held at Dental Solutions Clifton- Center for Dental Education on Sep 11. The workshop was about basic implant placement skills and its impression making and placement of prosthetic component. The surgical component of the workshop was covered by Dr. Abdullah Salman, Assistant Professor, Baqai Dental College and prosthetic component was covered by Dr. Naseer Ahmed, Assoc. Professor of Prosthodontics, Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine. Students from different colleges of Karachi attended the session. The session started with the recitation of Holy Quran, after that MD of Dental Solutions Clifton, Dr. Adil Bin Irfan, welcomed the participants and speakers and he highlighted the importance of continuing dental education. He said that fresh graduates and upcoming dentists should keep themselves updated regarding dentistry and they should attend such workshops. After that Dr. Abdullah Salman started his lecture and gave brief introduction of implant dentistry. He described surgical aspect of implant placement to the audience and explained each and every step in detail. Implant placement lecture of Dr. Abdullah was followed by prosthetic component lecture of Dr. Naseer Ahmed. Dr. Naseer described different types of crowns and impression techniques for dental implants. Their lectures were followed by question and answer session. After that, Dr. Abdullah and Dr. Naseer demonstrated the participants how to place the dental implant and how to take its impression. The session also contained hands-on component in which participants placed dental implants on goat head under supervision. Individual attention was given to every participant and more emphasis was given to handling techniques of the participants.
